RATES

Square Inch Price

I charge 2 cents per square inch for simple, meandering edge to edge (loosely quilted).

For more dense and elaborate edge to edge quilting the rate may increase as need for more thread is warranted.

I am known to offer discounts to seniors and to local guilders  along with other discounts at different times of the year.

Custom quilting will be on a case by case basis after consulting with the owner of the quilt, but not less than 2.5 cents per square inch.

Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .02 = $96.  This will include thread,

but not batting.  I offer batting purchases so you

don't have to ship batting to me.

Batting

At this time I use and stock Hobbs, MDG batting, and Quilter's Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend, 100% cotton, 100% poly, and can special order other specific batting, but this may cut into the time it takes to finish your quilt since I don't keep it on hand.

I do not work with wool for I am allergic to it.  Sorry!!

Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.

I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders.  I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.  For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.

Quilter's Dream Batting
65" of 100% cotton deluxe loft @ $0.64/in = $41.60

65" of 100% cotton select loft @ $0.44/in = $28.60
65" of 80/20 cotton/poly select @ $0.42/in = $27.30
65" of 100% poly select @ $0.34/in = $22.10

Hobb's Heirloom Batting

65" of 100% natural cotton @ $0.52/in = $33.80

65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.46/in = $29.90

65" of 100% poly select @ $0.28/in = $18.20

MDG Cozy Cotton Batting

65" of 100% natural cotton, 108" wide @ $0.48/in = $31.20

65" of 100% natural cotton, 90" wide  @ $0.38/in = $24.70

65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend, 96" wide  @ $0.34/in = $22.10

Thread

I stock both Glide (#40 & #50 weight), King Tut (cotton),  and some So Fine (#50) threads. I don't charge any extra fees for thread use, it's included in your square inch price.

If you would rather have a pop of contrasting color on the quilt or a subtle blending with the quilt colors, let me know your preference on thread color.  This is YOUR quilt!

Photography

Camera With Flash_edited.png

I will generally take photos of the finished quilt for the webpage to advertise my work.

I'm not a professional photographer but I can take great photos with my Canon PowerShot SX30.  Upon completion of the quilting, I will take photos of your quilt in my well-lit studio and then text/email you those images to use however you would like. I'd just ask that you credit me for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly and allow me to post them to my website to show my work. This extra service is included in your square inch price.

Shipping

Brown Blocks_edited.png

Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Louisiana, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.

Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Ground Advantage, which offers a 2-5 business day turnaround with $100 insurance included. If you prefer a faster postal delivery, USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical) can be used, also with $100 insurance included and tracking.  You may indicate on your intake form if you would like additional insurance over the stated minimum.

Other Costs

As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I'm required by the State of Louisiana to collect a 10% retail sales tax on any quilting notions or batting sold.  The quilting service, shipping, and any design/pantograph fees are not subject to sales tax.
